Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility is a much used phrase but what does it mean?
At Avelo , it means we're committed to doing "good business". So, while we want to achieve sustainable growth, we'll also take care of how we're treating our staff, the environment and the wider community, both at home and overseas, and we’ll seek to ensure that we act fairly, honestly and with integrity in all that we do.
Our Principles
We pride ourselves in acting fairly, honestly and ethically whenever we do business. We condemn corruption in all its forms and we will not tolerate it in our business or in those we do business with. We are committed to enforcing high moral and ethical standards in all business activities and to ensuring we do not have any business relationships with third parties who act outside legal boundaries or our wider business principles.
How we achieve 'good' business
Our People
We engage with our staff in an honest and transparent manner. We aim to provide them with fulfilling and rewarding careers so that they can achieve their full potential.
Our Marketplace
We strive to make a positive contribution to our industry. We're using our expertise in technology and financial services to develop solutions and services to connect the entire market and improve business performance.
Our Community
We provide pro-active and sustainable support to community projects at home and overseas. We assist them both as a business and as individuals. An example of this is the work we're doing with a community in Northern Uganda. The people of Maro Awobi (Uganda) are recovering from 20 years of conflict and we're helping them re-establish and develop their primary school.
We also try to use 'free trade' products when we can.
A team from Avelo is also undertaking Habitat for Humanity's Hope Challenge on 1st– 3rd July 2011 , a cause dedicated to eradicating housing poverty and homelessness in the UK and the World.
Our Environment
We act responsibly and try to reduce and recycle waste as well as minimise our carbon footprint. We also encourage our suppliers to do the same.
But a 'Good' business isn't just about treating our staff, the environment and the community well. It also provides us with a genuine competitive advantage.
